Are you hoping to start a blog? A few friends of mine have thrown around the idea and I always encourage it.

“But I don’t have time!”

A blog post only takes as long as you want it to. Whether you post a picture, a recipe or a novel. It’s all about what you want from your blog. Guess what? You can actually plan time to blog. My secret: my new blog planner.

Blog planner

This year, my new years resolution is to blog at least twice a week (it’s a start right?). I want to use more of my spare time to focus on my blog. That’s because my dedication, my organization and my passion for my blog have stemmed from something new…. a blog planner. I started my blog four years ago with completely different intentions. When I started, I would write entertainment stories, post my favourite looks and songs. In theory, I stuck with a similar concept; things that inspire me. For me, my blog inspires me to be creative and to do the things I like to do in my spare time. As many of you know, I work on an early morning show. Actually, it’s the earliest morning show in all of Canada. With that being said… I love my sleep. One of my favourite things to do is sleep but where’s the life in that? Blogging has opened my eyes to the fact that I should be making time to do the things that I want to do. No one accomplishes anything by sleeping right? If you’re truly interested in starting your own blog I know that you can make time for it too.

If you have decided to start a blog the next step is to decide which platform to use.

Blogspot vs. WordPress

From experience, Blogspot.com is the easier of the two. I must admit that you have limited options when it comes to formatting but if you’re not familiar with html this is definitely a better choice. WordPress gives you a little more freedom when it comes to customizing your blog. I haven’t figured out how to get sponsors or to associate my site with ads but I must admit I like the platform and the look of my new blog over my old one using blogspot (mysunkissedtrampoline.blogspot.ca).

I do want to share with you my recent blog journey; my blog planner. In november of last year I was looking through one of my all time favourite blogs (younghouselove) whenΒ I came this picture in a post:

Blog Planner

The Ultimate Blog Planner?! I quickly clicked on the link to find out what it was (Lets Get Crafty). A book that would help me organize my thoughts, schedule my posts and plan my blog. What a great idea! I had mentioned the idea to my aunt as a Christmas Gift and boy was I surprised when I actually got it!Β

This year, I have reached my goal of two blog posts per week (‘so far’). I have ideas for future diys and I have been able to schedule future posts as well. If you’re considering starting your own blog I would thoroughly recommend this book.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope I can inspire you to start your own blog. Feel free to leave a link below. I’d love to check it out!
