HOW TO: TAKE YOUR OWN HEADSHOTS

Hey friends,

This week’s Snap Saturday is a little different because I’m taking the photos… and I’m in the photos as well! No I’m not talking about your average selfie.

What I used:

  • Canon Digital Rebel XTi
  • Canon 70-200mm lens
  • Tripod
  • Natural Light

I wanted to get some new updated lifestyle shots so I decided to try taking some myself.

This was MUCH more complicated than I thought. The hardest part? Getting the shot in FOCUS.

To make this process super simple you can purchase a remote. At some point I’d like to invest in one but for now, I tried my hand at my self timer. I set my camera to AI Focus and then reached my arm out from where I was standing to get the frame in focus. 10 seconds later… boom. You’ve got your shot!

Now, I have to admit. It did take a few tries to get this right. At first I was framing and focusing before stepping into the shot. What did I get? A blurry image (as you can see below).

Hope you get to try this out. Just remember to have fun with it!

Tune in next Saturday for an ADORABLE engagement session. I’ll share some photography tips and tricks as well.

Have a great weekend!
